recutting paths

Post by Corfabrication »

I have a file im struggling with. Sheetcam seems to be generating a cut path that wants to repeat itself. meaning, it will cut the profile, then next move is back to starting point and recut the same profile. Im guesing there is something funny with the artwork, as I have seen this before on a thing or two, but typically do not have this issue. Anything to look for? easy method to fix?

Check for double or triple lines in your artwork.

I'll go with grindergary on this one, it is usually more than one line in the same place. I also once had a problem where the line was a very skinny rectangle. Evidently some drawing programs will take a fat line and make it into a rectangle.

I've had it happen randomly that Sheetcam will double up the path like you're describing. Even when the file is verified to be correct. I've fixed it every time just by deleting the operation, creating a new one, and re-posting the file. (basically just regenerate the Gcode)

Whatever the issue is with mine, I haven't been able to tell anything causing it. It doesn't happen very often...

Check to see if a certain tick box in Sheetcam is enabled:

Options / Application Options / Drawing Import (tab) / Remove Duplicate Lines (tick box)

If the file is not confidential to you, post the original cad file and we can see if there's any obvious double lines.

I've never tried before but I wonder if you can drag overlapping lines off each other in Sheetcam when in nesting mode.

Yes if nesting parts double check you haven't two parts right on top of each other, it's easy enough done if zoomed out esspecially duplicating a few at a time, it's not easy to see where the problem is as well, I've done it twice now
