Digital Drawing Tablet

Post by stacca »

Does anyone use a digital drawing tablet to edit/draw? If so what do you recommend? I'm so unsteady with the mouse, looking for other options! thanks :)

I have one of these.

Their range has expanded since I bought it a few years ago now.

They were cost effective when I bought mine . I wanted a large one about the size of a sheet of paper so I could sketch something and trace it in or draw directly with something I felt comfortable with similar to a sheet of paper.

Another brand is wacom but more expensive.

I also have a cheaper variant of a surface book Pro which I can use a stylus on too

It is worth while getting a pressure sensitive stylus so that you can draw in detail

YouTube reviews can be helpful to explain the pros and cons before buying.

It is worth while checking your software is stylus compatible too.

For drafting in cad (autocad / inventor / fusion360) i use a very old but now expensive to find roller ball mouse (I wore the first one out).

I have tried other ones but find that one the most comfortable hand size wise. Wish it was still made.

I have experimented with them and found it had its own set of problems and went back to the mouse. It is impossible to get smooth lines but in Corel I have a feature that will smooth out the lines when the drawing is done. Its fast and works like a charm, I am sure Inkscape has something similar.
