Your artwork is very nice, but I won't be hanging it on my wall. The wife is freaked out enough about our unwelcome guests.

Black Widows are beautiful, but kinda creepy too. We have them here on the ranch and have learned to respect them, before stamping on them  The tell tale erratic web is all I need to see before donning gloves and reaching for the pesticide. I've not seen one in a few weeks after a regime of bug bombing the barns and outbuildings every 3 days for the past 2 months! I'm sure they are still some lurking and breeding, and I'll continue to bug bomb the buildings. We may get chickens to keep the population down, or maybe not. Thankfully they are shy of humans, and to get bitten you'd have to unknowingly touch one - they won't stalk you. I've only managed to photograph one of them, just as it scurried away to hide from me.
I don't think we can ever get rid of them completely here, just manage the population. I built a new horse barn and less than 2 weeks after the walls went up I found two new Black Widow webs complete with spiders; the barn was 300 feet from my nearest other barn - thats a pretty fast migration. I read they trail their web as a long silk and then use it to catch the wind and be carried to new places - amazing.

Nice artwork.

Pony,

We have a lot of black widows here on our place too.
BIG ones.

I am always looking to see what I grab when reaching for something.

Usually we are always looking out for rattlesnakes.

A few days ago I was cleaning up in front of my workshop and had to pick up some trash.
Cardboard, scrap metal and stuff like that.

Rattlesnakes where on my mind so I was looking for them.

I should have been looking for everything else too.

I had a large scorpion sting me on the hand.
It was hiding on an old piece of cardboard.

I have been stung before with no problems but this time I got it good.

This was a big scorpion and it must have had a lot of venom.

Very painful....... :o
Made my tongue numb, lips go numb and all around feel like crap for the rest of the day.

I had to sleep that one off.
"OK, Now hold my beer and I'll try it"

We used to have them here at are place in AZ, then i hired a bug guy that comes and sprays every 3 months inside and outside of all building's including our homes.. now i don't ever see blackwidows or centipeds.. problem is I don't see horny toads or praying mantis anymore either.. guess with nothing for them to eat they have moved on..
