wed o really like the Hypertherm torch set up though, we converted ours in house, and it works well

we are using a Everlast 82I with a Hypertherm conversion torch, It is a nice machine, but duty cycle is terrible compared to a Hypertherm Powermax 85. It will likely be up for sale soon, and we go back to Hypertherm.
Cutting 1/4" plate you can only cut for about 10 minutes before it hits duty cycle and needs to cool down
unit is less than 1 year old

What amp setting are you using on the 82i cutting the 1/4"? Only able to cut 10 minutes seems way off. You should be able to cut 1/4 cleanly well under 60amps.

The PM85 manual I am looking at shows 1/4" using the 65amp and 45amp consumables. Do you know which you are using? 10 minutes to hit duty just seems off like something is wrong unless you are pumping more that 60amps. Clean inside power unit, good airflow?

EDIT- See there are also settings for 85amp and 105amp consumables. Guessing that is more likely what you might be using. With the higher amps and speed I could see you hitting the wall at 10 min. I use my Hypertherm45 for thinner stuff (1/4" and under) and my 82i for thicker stuff. Just have to swap a couple cables.
