Been thinking of something like that to.Maybe someone will come up with simple cut and bend shelving units for this.

Awesome! Now I'm looking around the shop trying to find something else that is plastic that needs to be replaced with a metal one. Don't know how many of these I've overloaded and busted.

I cut one of these.... The gaps ended up being a little bigger then I'd have liked. I'm going to tweak it a little, and plan to cut a bunch of them. I'm considering a way to hang them.

I welded a piece of 1/2" angle on the back of it so it would hang off of a strip of 1/4" X 2" strap, worked beautifully!
going to size some more up so they will hold more (rivets) but this is super cool way to use scrap!
I made a few different sizes and added some tabs to the back plate to act as a hook. Then I was able to hang the tray into some slots in a plate (see pic). The plate is the same concept as pegboard, just welded to the legs of my fab table. I needed a place to temporarily de-clutter tools, nuts, and bolts whenever I'm welding. Plus it gives my 2 year old a place to put the nuts and bolts that he picks up off the shop floor.
