m1 optional stop

what is the m1 optional stop button for and why does it keep my z home switch from working? thanks, It was pressed for some reason and my machine would not do my z reference move? took me forever to figure out what it was.

With M1 optional stop turned on, Mach3 will pause when it hits an M01 in the code. With optional stop turned off, it will ignore the M01. I'm not sure what that would have to do with homing.
