I make the customer write exactly what they want - the way they want it. Twice. Emails preferred, but you have to watch the font, as they will screw you up just as badly as poor handwriting.

If they want the sign to say;

The Smiths
or
The Smiths'
or
The Smith's

I don't care how they want it but I will make them aware of things like this. In the end, it's their sign.

Great work on the sign :D Love the detail and placement.

As for the spelling, there are tons of people who spell plurals like that especially if english isn't their first language. I know a few guys from Austria and they all spell like that. Heck if for no other reason it gives a prospective customer a reason to strike up a conversation with someone in the shop and once the salesman in the shop starts talking... watch out there may be a sale coming up ;)

I did a sign for a hair dresser last month and spelled the business name wrong. They spelled friends with a z. I was able to fix it easy enough. Great looking sign. Should be proud!

Nice sign!

I like the detail and it really makes you look twice at everything in the sign.

As far as the supplys, its like a laundromat.
Laundromat.......I always see it spelled Laundromat.......What the heck is a laundromat and why is the sign always upside down?

Sometimes I see it Londromat too.....Still upside down.

Why not laundry??????? or wash clothes here?????? or coin operated Laundry!

Heck I don't know except it is full of girls with boobie tatoos

The OP has not been active on this forum for several years. You could use a program like Inkscape to do a manual trace of some welding gear portion and then add your own lettering with the font of your choice. What drawing program are you using? Let us know if you need help to get started.

Hi Lilman, this is how I would start off doing it with TorchMate Cad. First import the jpeg image to TMCad, then follow the steps outlined below to trace out the various shapes. Let us know if you have any specific questions about doing a manual trace with your software and either myself or Ben will try to help you.

Lilman, here is a nice little video by Ben showing a demonstration of the TMCad Stroke/Fill tool. This technique might come in handy with your welder shop sign trace.

Here is the cdl file for the trace I started above. Hopefully this will get you started.

Sorry - but I do not have the vector trace result for this image. I showed the OP how to get started with his Inkscape trace. Perhaps you can follow some of the steps I provided and complete the trace for yourself.
