I bought these from Amazon. I will solder them to two torch control cables I have, to see if they will be more reliable than the cheaper plastic plugs used by PlasmaCam. It is so difficult to unplug those cables without pulling a wire loose or breaking a pin, or completely disassembling the plug that is only partially removed from the controller box. These METAL plugs should solve ALL of those problems.

Re: PlasmaCam Torch Control Cable PLUG Upgrade
PlasmaCam should have used these in the first place.

Re: Replace the Torch Control Cable PLUG
We've been using metal DIN plugs for years on the CPC interface cables that we make and sell. They work very well - the only drawback is that the powder coat thickness at the controller opening can be a bit thick making it hard to get the metal plug past it. A quick scrape with a utility knife is usually all that is needed to solve this. Well worth it in my opinion which is why I switched after the first batch we made back when. (I guess some day I should update the picture of them on our website one of these days since it was taken way back then )

Re: Replace the Torch Control Cable PLUG
The flimsy plastic plug that comes with the torch control cable sold by PlasmaCam is a joke. It takes entirely too much force to insert and remove that plug from the controller box. Combine that with the fact that the actual plug is inset from the controller body, so you lose your grip on about 40% of the flimsy plug's body!
Robert is doing it RIGHT, by using the metal DIN plugs! Unfortunately, PlasmaCam made that hole through the controller body about .020" too small, so it MAY become an issue of using a rotary abrasive stone or a rotary file to clearance the hole for the slightly larger metal plug.
