Air Filter Bowl Issues on PM85

Hey,

So I bought a nice used PM85 back in November. Unit runs great and is in good condition except for the air filter bowl. The fitting for the bottom of hte bowl used to drain anything is missing, so it leaks a bit. Now I can get by with it on short cuts since I kind of plugged it, but it isn't a good permanent fix. The bowl is the older style bowl with the metal guard (PN 428015) which I found out is really SMC part # AD38N-Z-X445. Problem is it is not made for Hypertherm anymore and the newer style air filter from Hypertherm requires a completely new assembly (428352), the new bowl does not fit the old assembly (It's close but not interchangeable). The only place I have found to sell the old one is SMC but they have a minimum order quantity that just the bowl does not meet.

Anyone else run into this issue and found a reasonable solution? I heard the replacement filter assembly is not only a pain to replace, partially because you have to open up the unit (which I prefer not to do when it is otherwise working wonderfully) but it is pricey.

That sucks. I have an older and newer PM65 and the bowls are different on them, never knew that.

I googled your SMC part number and it looks like you can buy it online. Can you just but it and use the bowl?

Only place I have found to buy it is directly from SMC and there is a minimum buy fee making it nearly $100. At that rate I might as well buy the new unit where I can get parts for awhile.

It doesn't say anything about a minimum order. It does say there is an additional $6 charge for orders under $75.

Ahh. Yeah, that does look better. The link you posted above must have been for the whole assembly. $12 looks like a steal. I probably should order a spare.
