Dragon

Post by Owens Customs »

Spent a couple hours tracing this one out for my "better 3/4's" only to miss a couple of holes when I cut it.

That's pretty awesome! How big is it?
I think I'm the oldest 10 year old boy on the forum...

Thanks. 18" x 22"
It's pretty delicate. I shouldn't have made it so small ( only piece of 16 gauge I had at the time )
It was a little nerve racking dealing with the pieces tipping here and there when the torch is flying around at that speed.

Well done!
I didn't initially see the spots you mention...we are our own worst critics. Rest assured it's not just you :D
Now, if there were a back layer with scale detail cut into it...that would be really sweet.
Thanks for posting!

Thanks Ben,

Having been here for a little while and seeing what you do, I appreciate the comments.

I started adding the rest of the body to the drawing last night after cutting this. It's starting to take shape pretty nicely.
The idea is to have a full version, probably about 5' tall on the shop wall. some time in the future.

Most welcome, thank you so much. Can't wait to see the finished piece...that'll be awesome!! Seems the fun stuff often must wait though.

Very nice looking dragon, thanks for showing it to us. I think I would have made it BIGGER because just knocking the slag off I would have made a pretzel out of it ( did that before on another dragon)

Now Larry....Didn't you just get through telling me your settings are so precise that your plasma doesn't even produce slag???

Thanks Larry,

Yes, It took quite a while to clean it up. But I was determined not to wreck it.
I hadn't considered how thin the lines would be. I was too excited about getting it to the girlfriend in time for her birthday.

Determination derived purely from the love of your lady....
Doesn't get any better than that :D

Very nice job! Something like that would have went in the muriatic acid for a good while to help assist with clean up. I think my big hands would have had in the same boat as Larry.
