Torch Firing Issues

Post by tsmart11@gmail.com »

My apologies for posting this again, as it was originally in an older post but not certain it is getting looked at any longer.

I have installed an inexpensive dessicant dryer in line so I don't think my problem is from moisture in the lines. I have taken 2 videos showing my problem and put them on youtube. I would appreciate any advice as to what may be occurring. This is very frustrating and very random in nature.

 Don't judge the state of my shop please, I have dismantled most of it troubleshooting, the wires are not usually sitting on the part ;)
New Consumables are installed.
One video shows the torch working fine and then having problems lighting. The other was made within minutes and shows the torch not lighting at all. You can hear an electical buzz while it tries to light and you can hear post flow air....

Thanks in advance. This is extremely frustrating.

first do you have a pressure gauge at the back of youre plasma cutter?
if not you need to put a inline pressure gauge http://plasmaspider.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 641#p63641
you need to have a starting pressure of 120/130 psi you don't want to drop below 90

do you have the ground clamp on the metal ?
check those out if that doesn't fix it repost youre question and some one will help.
these are the most frequent problems. but there is others like torch height and other settings

Thanks for the advice again. I hooked up a gauge and I have good pressures to the unit. I have a good ground on bare shiny metal of the part.

I ended up lowering the amps to from 35 down to 30 and it seems to be cutting fine now. Not sure if it was a fluke or not...
