How to cut single part from DXF

Post by bigdipper »

I recently bought a sample DXF set from DXF Free site. Their are several files that have two drawings. One is created for waterjet and the other for plasma. I am cutting with plasma and I want to just process the one drawing. Can I do this. You can very easily see that I am new but am learning. If anyone can give me some help I would really appreciate it.

I am new too.
but I think in sheet cam you can select that file and move it to a new layer
then when post processing select that layer to cut

there probably is other ways but that works for me

If you use a design program like CorelDraw, AutoCAD, etc. you can open the dxf file and eliminate the objects you do not want to cut. It is common to open these purchased files in a design program to change the size, change the design, add some text, etc. so it will be good for you to get started doing this. If you don't have a good design program yet I would recommend CorelDraw and you can download a demo from http://www.corel.com click on the Free Trials link in the top menu bar. Best of luck and have fun.
