THC issue

Post by SpartanKen »

OK, I have finally had time to work through my THC issue. I have been running manually, so this evening, I tried to get it running, for the most part I succeeded. (ports and pins, active lows and such) I was running a short file, 1 inside cut and then 1 outside cut. It runs its course on the inside and then starts its jog to the pierce point on the outside and stops right before it gets there... Almost like it timed out or something since it wasn't seeing a signal. I tried run from here, backing up, nothing, its frozen.

Is there a delay or time out that I am missing somewhere?

I am attaching the file in case it is in the GCODE, notepad file.

I know this might sound stupid, but is your sheetcam and Mach3 installed with the licence? otherwise it will only run a few lines of code before it shuts it down.

I ran your Gcode thru a simulater since im not at the shop. Seems to run just fine.

Is this what your keychain is supposed to look like?

yes, my issue is not with the finished product. It is with the machine stopping between pierce points and having to turn off the THC, then hitting run again and then having to turn the THC back on as it fires. If this is designs intent... its rather... silly.

It was mentioned on the CandCNC group page that it is because I am losing arc... of course it loses arc between pierce points. So, I'm still confused as to why it freezes until I turn off the THC. I have looked at videos on youtube and others do not have this issue, they motor right along.

Whats your upper Fault limit set at? I have that problem sometimes where ill finish an interior cut and since the piece drops out or is melted away the arc has no contact with material on the loop out. It faults out and I have to hit stop and run again. Kinda sucks. Happens more than i like to admit.

Have you tried MP1000 post processor from CandCNC? Make sure to enter switch offset into it.

Exactly at what point does it stop. Is it immediately after the torch finishes a cut (i.e. as soon as there's a "lost arc"), or does it finish the cut, then proceed on it's rapid move to the next pierce position, then stop halfway. If it's stopping after a couple of seconds while moving to the next pierce point then I can't see it being caused by a lost arc condition.

Has Mach reported any faults when it stops.

In any case a lost arc should only occur when the torch is supposed to be on. If Mach is halting motion because of lost arc after it's turned the torch off then it seems to be stuffed.

The file runs perfect when I simulate it in Mach, but I would like to know what that "S500" is on line N0070, I've personally never used any gcode command beginning with S although I have occasionally heard about S commands.

Have you checked to see if your Mach application is licensed.

I seen that too. S500 would be Spindle speed for a lathe or mill. ( i run 2 big bore cnc lathes 8-) )

Ken, Can you take a video and post it. They way i interpreted your problem wasnt the same way others seen it.

Ken I'll make sure I don't offer you any help in the future, I'm tired of this sort of crap.

After waiting one day you give the above sarcastic comment, like it's your birthright to be given help and others obligation to give it.

So a bunch of members hop in to assist (= giving their time and effort for your benefit) and next thing you just abandon the thread. Didn't notice any thanks in there either, but there again it is everyones obligation to assist you.

I've waited over a week (which is a little bit more than your one day) to see if you were coming back to your thread but looks like you are not.

Rolleyes back at you
