forklift extensions
I am going to make some fork extenders for my forklift. It presently has only 4' long x 5" wide forks on it. Im going to make some extensions that are 6' long but was trying to decide on wall thickness for the rectangular tube I will get to make the extensions from. I am figuring on 1/4" wall. What would you think is a good wall thickness to use for extensions?

Re: forklift extensions
I should add the forklift is rated for 6000# but I rarely lift more than 4000# with it.

Re: forklift extensions
I made some 6 footers out of 3x5x1/4 tube. I cut a notch out at the ends. Heated it up, bent the piece down and welded the seams. Customer loved it. He said could use them as kind of a pry bar to get under stuff cause it was slanted.
