Missing electrode parts

Post by grindergary »

Jim,

I purchased a few packages of electrodes and when I went to open one package, I noticed there was something missing.

Seems the spring and end cap on one electrode is missing.I took a picture of the package, and will get one of the electrode tomorrow. Forgot to take a picture of it alone.

We had a good laugh at it. I tried to take a spring from a used one but could not get it off. Didt't try too hard. did not want to stretch the spring.

You want a desk ornament?

Is that even the same electrode? Looks like the spiral part is longer than all the rest.

You know, I looked again and you are right. :o

Maybe someone changed it out at the distributors. I use Linde gas here in Edmonton AB.

Gary,

any chance I can get that whole package back....with the electrodes in place? I will make sure you get replacements first (and a few extras!). jim.colt@hypertherm.com

Thanks Gary, I got your email. Can you read the 6 digit part number off the electrode? It looks like it is for another one of our torches...not a Duramax.

Thanks for your help Jim, I will take it back to the distributor and give them a hard time.

Here is what has happened so everyone knows what the end results were.

Quote:
That is a Powermax 1650 100 Amp electrode…manufactured in January 2012. The others are correct (Duramax ) manufactured April 2013. Probably have been in distributors inventory for a while. My guess would be that someone at the distributor may have sold one of the electrodes…then replaced it with the 220037. Because they are so far apart in manufacturing it is unlikely the wrong electrode got in that package at Hypertherm.

I figured the same thing that someone took one and replaced it with another electrode.

By the way, my new electrodes 220777finally came in today. Took them long enough to order them in.

Thanks Jim for your help here and on all the forums you visit.
