Computer WorkStation Plans Anyone?
Quick question / request. I was looking at the Tracker cutting system advertised on this site and couldn't help but admire the computer workstation that they have beside their cutting table....
By any stretch of the imagination would any of you have a DXF / plan for something along those lines?
Thanks All !!!

Re: Computer WorkStation Plans Anyone?
I've located the PC Enclosure file on the PlasmaCam disk..! Pretty basic design.
Not to knock one of the business posting to this website, but for the info of those that may be looking.... I have been in contact with the folks at Tracker CNC and was quoted $1,000 for the cabinet alone !!! They're all wet !!
I'll keep working on a drawing perhaps...
Thx again...

I know the cost seems high on that enclosure however it is not something we typically sell, it is a standard feature on our higher end ProTable and we have never sold one on it's own so it was a custom quotation you recieved. It is actually a really nice design with a durable crinkle black powdercoat finish but I am sure you can build something better suited for your PlasmaCam controller and computer at a fraction the cost. Let us see what you come up with when when you have it completed!!

Re: Computer WorkStation Plans Anyone?
My computer station is a scratch & dent base kitchen cabinet, 2 doors and a drawer.
It holds a tower computer, a UPS and a power strip. There is also a lot of room for cameras and stuff that I don't want plasma dust to cover. The drawer is handy for rulers, calipers, manuals and various charts.
Of course, it's leaky. Get a small fan to install in a side or back wall of the cabinet, that blows into the cabinet and put a good filter on it. The idea is to create a positive pressure in the box that will keep the dust out, blowing it away from all those leaky areas.
With a bit of planning, one or two switches will control a lot of stuff; aux speakers, table controller, lights, battery chargers etc. That's really handy when it's time to shut down the shop in the evening.
My keyboard and mouse are wireless and live in the drawer when not in use - like when I'm powder coating, grinding or doing other work that produce airborne contaminates.
The monitor is a flat screen that's mounted to the table top and covered with an old bedsheet when not being used. I keep it clean with a 3" (new, clean and dedicated) paintbrush.

Re: Computer WorkStation Plans Anyone?
Just purchased a computer enclosure from globalindustrial.com. It's not too bad. They have different options to choose from. They are offering pretty good rebates now. Mine was about 300.00 and I got 60.00 off that. Different colors and options. Kind of light weight, but they're pretty functional. Delivery time was excellent too. Easy to put together. Check 'em out.

I bought the deluxe. Comes with two fans, two side shelves, slide out mouse tray and powerstrip. The main cabinet is the same size on both units. The added width shown for the deluxe includes the width of the shelves.

I bought the regular one several years ago. I don't think they had the deluxe at that time. I put a couple of fans in it but I've never needed them. It's a pretty nice cabinet.

I said to heck with my enclosure..built a shop add on and did a office. Between the wall I ran a section of 2" pvc pipe for the plasma torch lead and then about a foot from it I ran a section of 1" pvc for the controller wires. going to run wires through then stick a piece of foam in there so I can silicon the end up for a air tight seal.

Very nice work...how much dust blows out when you clean it out with your filters? I blew my cancad box out the other day and it looked like a west texas dust storm..

Re: Computer WorkStation Plans Anyone?
two things I use a home AC filter material for filters and I have a water tabel to reduce the dust.
Whith out a water table of fumes removal system you are asking for problems with dust.

Re: Computer WorkStation Plans Anyone?
The best way to keep dust out is to create positive pressure inside the cabinet.
K & N style pleated filter on the intake side of a serious muffin fan.
That way the positive air pressure keeps the dust out.
We found that is the most effective way to protect computer cabinets in the plants.

Thank you for the answers...I am building a exhaust system for the table in the shop addon this time and a decently air tight office will help i hope.
