parallel port communication error....

Post by deannasanmiguel »

I am using a 4x4 plasmacam table with a hypertherm powermax 65. I have suddenly started getting the "severe communication error". the torch tries to initialize but moves about 4 inches and gives the same error, and other times gives an error stating that the noise is within the cutter, parallel port or cables. I have the computer plugged in a surge protector with extra EMI/RFI filter, the torch is plugged in to a different circuit. My table is earth grounded and I have run a wire from the parallel port to the computer. my next thought is to replace the parallel cable even though it is less than a year old...Is there a special kind of cable I need?
HELP!!!

You need a bidirectional printer cable, IEEE 1284 compliant; this one looks good:

Cheers!
