Gary (Signtorch) question

Post by plain ol Bill »

Gary when Corel came out w/ X5 they had changed something to make joining nodes easier than before. By any chance do you remember what it was they changed and where they stuck it in the program? I have just upgraded from X4 to X6 and I have not noticed (yet anyway) any differences really in how nodes are joined together.
I have quite a few files that I would really like to join nodes in (some do not have a single pair joined anywhere) so objects can be filled but do not want to have to spend hour after hour joining them one after the other. Any help appreciated.

Bill,
This is what I do in X5
With your image that you want nodes joined selected
You select "Arrange" in the menu bar and at the bottom of the drop down is "Join Curves" ckeck this,
This gives you another option of Extend, Chamfer, Fillet, Bezier Curve" select "Extend"
Then you need to enter a value in "Gap Tollerance" I use 1.0mm but I am setup in metric so start with say .04 and work your way up or down from there if necessary
and select apply.
Sometimes if there are litterally thousand of objects I have to break it down into smaller areas of the drawing to join in several goes.

what murray said...

except I hit menu window/dockers/join-curves

because I have join-curves and fillet docked in one docker

the window menu opens them together, the arrange menu does not

Gary and Murray that is exactly what I was looking for and I appreciate the help guys. I have found the join curves docker and this does what I have been doing one at a time. This docker alone was worth the upgrade to me.
