Tower Crane Computer Monitor Holder
Made this for my office so I can use the computer while in one of those zero gravity (bad back) chairs.

That is one bad momma jamma,
Just curious how many hours do you have into the designing of that crane?
Thanks a bunch

This is really cool, what gauge did you cut it out of? Does it swivel ? Is there enough room to put a drum and load line in? Thanks for sharing!

Re: Tower Crane Computer Monitor Holder
Craig, that is super cool!!!!! Being as I was a commercial construction superintendent for 32 yrs that hits home!!..
Took some time to draw that and it is very appreciated that you would share
Couple ?
how was it cut? (laser, plasma, water jet?
Powder coated parts?
Bonding of the raised letters after coating?
Did you get the turnbuckles from Mcmaster Carr?
Thank you again

is it because i am not a contributing member that I can't see almost all posted images on this board? Even stuff that I have uploaded is blinded to me. I understand that I am restricted from dowloading files- and am cool with that. But would love to be able to SEE what folks are showing and commenting on.

Re: Tower Crane Computer Monitor Holder
Thanks everyone for your kind words. Will start working on instructions soon. I cut it out of 1/8" mild steel plate. For a swivel I used a 1000 lb capacity permanently lubed turntable (the smallest one I could find with the look I wanted). Should be enough room inside to make it into a working crane. The design took me about 20 hours of research (It's my first crane) and drawing.
I use a Plasmacam system and their Design Edge software. I get 99% of my supplies from Mcmaster Carr; they seem to have just about everything. I am close enough to one of their distribution centers to get orders in less than 24 hours (If I order before 3:00 pm). I painted it myself and left a few drips but with my eyes getting so bad I need to get up close to see them. If I ever take it down I will probably have it powder coated. I used the strongest double sided tape 3M makes to get the numbers to stick well.
And for enfofan if you make a living with your CNC machine the $20 fee can easily be recouped with all the files you get.

Im new here so my words may not mean as much to some but i dont know if its right to give any inspirations to someone who is not a member this site already gives alot to nonmembers and much more to the membership. Sense the membership is very generous and affordable.enfofan wrote:is it because i am not a contributing member that I can't see almost all posted images on this board? Re: Tower Crane Computer Monitor Holder
I had seen someone who made on of these but it was done by hand and quite a bit larger. I believe they used it as a crane in their garage.
Very nice job and thanks for sharing.
Edit: I even found the picture I had

Thanks, I am retired and have been making the things I post here for about the last 1+ years. I keep most of what I make but do make gifts for family and friends.MadMetal2000 wrote:Very nice work Craig, do you sell or keep your work?
