Need help tracing image

Post by Flatline16 »

I have been using corel draw but the wire frame view shows tons of additional lines throughout the file. Does anyone have better software for tracing?

Have you inquired to Madison Iron & Wood to see if they offer any of these files for sale? If you can just buy the file from them, then that would be my recommendation. If they don't offer the files for sale, and you intend to use this artwork exclusively for your own personal use, then I don't have a problem with you tracing their images. I think if you do an internet search, you may find similar images as well.

The images you have posted do not lend themselves to auto tracing due to the very low resolution of the images. You will have much better luck doing a manual trace. For CorelDraw, I would recommend using the B-Spline tool for your manual tracing.

I have seen similar files without the middle portion (hills?). I need to create the file first before I edit. This one would get me closer than using a different file. Ill try the spline tool. Thank you!

Good luck, let us know how you make out and if you have any questions about using CorelDraw to create your drawing.

I don't know if CorelDraw has this feature. I used Design Edge for the node reduction.

In general, if you save or export as svg instead of dxf, the exported file will have fewer nodes.

In 2021 corel there is a node reduction button after all nodes are selected. I tried another file and after reducing nodes it reduced by 1/3rd. Thanks for the info about file type.

I'm not an expert at CorelDraw. I mainly use Inkscape and other programs, but like the CorelDraw B-Spline tool. That's about all I use CorelDraw for. Inkscape also has a "node reduction" tool.

Good luck with your cutting.

I don't have 2021 but Crel Draw never really changes much.

Check out this video on node reduction in Corel viewtopic.php?t=35552 This will get you what you want.

Other great Corel Specific videos you might find interesting here https://www.plasmaspider.com/viewforum.php?f=225

Good luck and ask questions if you have them :Like
