FlashForge Creator 3 vs. Bambu Labs PS1

Post by adbuch »

I have a recent project where I want to create some various sized frames for the Shaper Trace. I have considered several different methods, including plasma cutting, printing on paper, cnc router, and 3D printing. I measured and drew up the original frame using Fusion 360 and created stl files for 3D printing to see how that would work.

My existing 3D printer is a FlashForge Creator 3 with dual independent extruders - so it has the ability to print in two different colors. I imported the stl files into the FlashPrint slicer to see how long the print would be. It turns out that the print time is around 8 hours. That seems like a long print time to me.

For comparison, I used the Bambu Labs slicer for the Bambu Labs PS1 3D printer (single extruder with multi color capability) to see how long it would take to print. To my surprise - the print time as only around 2 hours.

The Bambu Labs PS1 is currently on sale - so I went ahead and ordered one to check it out.

I have other multi-color projects in the "pipeline", so I think this new printer will make a nice addition to the shop.

You'll want to print this for the AMS:

https://www.printables.com/model/542244 ... buffer-fix

https://www.printables.com/model/587067 ... -ptfe-tube

The filament will often fail to feed without it. Other than that I've experienced zero issues with mine. Gave away my Ender 3 after getting a P1S. Print speed and quality is incredible.

Thanks for that information! Will I need one of these for each color? Also - it this something that Bambu Labs sells, is it available as a finished product on the aftermarket, or is it only available by printing it?

Thanks,
David

You'll only need one. It straightens out the ptfe tube that goes into the ams buffer that is on the back of the printer. There are quite a few different solutions for it that others have designed and uploaded stls for. The one I linked is what Ive been using and haven't had a fail to feed error since.

OK - thanks!

It says that one of these is the "Bambu AMS filament buffer fix" and the other is the "Bambu Lab Curved Holder for left AMS Hub PTFE Tube - Remixed Short". Do I need both of these?

Thanks,
David

The buffer fix will work on its on, the curved holder add on just helps it a little more.
