A couple project pictures

Post by Phillipw »

Hey all!

I love to see pictures of stuff people make. I do a mix of mechanical parts and artsy stuff. Hope you all enjoy.

PhillipW - you do some great work! It looks like you've got some really nice trees and greenery where you live. A much different look than we have here out in the desert in Tucson.

Thank you very much I appreciate the compliment. I enjoy sharing ideas with others. My work has its flaws but they are mine every project is a learning experience.

I am nested deep in the Appalachian mountains. I am in the coalfields of Virginia. It is a beautiful place just no flat land.

Using your own art work you can incorporate local interest and scenery into you work, or more personal connections. Great aid into gift making too. The added joy when you hand projects over and the look on their faces. Also adding some coins in your pocket creating custom furniture for local sales :Like :Like

That is my first attempt at a table. It has a live edge curly maple top. I do plan on make a few more I just have to find a market that will pay the value.

Don't know if you have Craigslist, facebook's market place, but they are 2 free posting platforms for local sales. You can also change cities to post in another location and repeat the post to a remote city. I have done this with city up to 200 miles of my location, stating a local pickup with cash sales. Just use the private owner way to list ( non-commercial ) for free posts.

I do live in a remote area and money isn't plentiful. I actually have a brother that lives in mid Kentucky horse country. Planning on some consignment shops maybe.

Thanks for your input much appreciated.

Not sure if anything like this is close to you, many years ago we would go to Canton Texas (we lived in Shreveport La) to a flea market. It was held on the first Monday of the month. You could but and sell about anything there, (no guns or booze) many people selling new stuff others hand make and DIY stuff. Some were business like and had other flea markets that cycled through, a week end at each state. The guy I talked to was from California, he would load his truck and hit the different markets and back home to fill up again.

Oh yeah a few in the area. The main thing I have seen as far as plasma art if you charge much over 20 bucks it doesn't sell.

People will look at things and say oh that's nice and keep walking. On a occasion someone will buy things.

As for art stuff I do mostly customized items. Then my mechanical parts is where the money is to be made.

Thanks for the link also.
