Make sure the drain valve (or whatever you use to lower the water) is open when you fill. If there's air trapped in there it's consuming the space for water, So you add water until you think it's full but it's 1/2 (or whatever) full of air.
Welp that turns out to be the problem! Thank you for the patience 68! i now know A LOT more about water tables than i did 2 days ago! thanks everyone else as well !

I'm glad you got it figured out, i haven't seen an xlr8 in person and didn't know about the bladder, I've done some research on them and learned a bunch from this thread.

Now that I know I can lower all the water away for retrieving parts and then fill it up at will I feel like a god. Lol

Slap some fresh paint on that sucker and you will think you have a new machine!

Yes I’m definitely gonna blast and coat it with 75% zinc solids primer. I’m the kinda guy that would way rather refurbish something used than buy new. Also now that I’m not draining it every second day gonna start using some corrosion inhibitor to slow the cancer down. But that’s a conversation for another thread… cheers all!

I don't think it is bladder, I feel it is just a tank.
