Attaching mulit-layered signs

Post by topkote »

I know many folks use studs and double-sided tape for layered signs but does anyone tried an adhesive of some sort?

Thanks,
Mike

I have use a product called E6000, it is similar to the old RTV but does not smell as bad and is very flexible, easily found in many stores.

Art the Spartan got a combo of 3M VHB tape and a dab of E - 6000 to be sure, he is 4' T x 5' Wide and has been outside in the sun for over a year. Each color is made from 16 ga metal

I use the Duck brand double sided tape, which is the cheapest at the store I’ve found, and is so strong it peels off the sheet rock sometimes when removing it. Loctite has a tape that is supposed to be good in the weather and has a better temperature range, but most of my stuff is indoors so I’ve never needed it. I don’t like the idea of adhesives because of the “ooze out” when the pieces get squeezed together.

I also used thin rare earth magnets quite often with good luck, but they have their limitations too.
