Built this a couple years ago and forgot to share it. Has its limitations but it will dig a hole! Based it off some pictures I found and scrap steel/old cylinders I had laying around.
700 series greenteeth
1:1.46 bush hog gear box
6 series pto shaft with slip clutch
63/64" diameter rod
.25" wall 1" dom tubing
3/4" thick for cut wheel
63/64" rod fits perfect inside 1" dom for diy pivot points.
If I had to build another one I would have the rotation of the wheel spin the other direction. Right now its like running an angle grinder on the dangerous side. If you take too big of a cut it will sometime catch and try to kickback pretty hard. The slipclutch prevents most of that. I think spinning it the other way would be easier on equipment. I'm not sure how much dust and chips would fly back at the operators seat but a rubber guard flap would probably keep you from eating chips. All the ones I looked at to buy rotate like this one, and they seem just as violent to run. V2 will be flipped to spin the other way and probably get some paint Either way it beats doing it by hand.

Good design. The gear box looks like it came from a brush hog but what did you use for blades ?

Greenteeth 700 series size. They seem to cut really well and the chips are large. They can be rotated, haven't had to yet. Did hit some steel that was hidden in a stump and it chipped a couple teeth pretty good.

That's a great job!! It sort of reminds me of a similar project by a fellow member Chris from last year where we helped him with a design for some shark teeth to perform a similar function. Thanks for sharing your project with us.
