Easy display stand for plama cutouts

Most of the pieces I cut are under 2 feet long as dictated by the size of my CNC plasma table. I had a bunch of new oak floor boards leftover from a new floor we had installed. They turned out to be perfect material for bases on my cut pieces.

Since I work almost exclusively with 11 gauge steel, the 1/8" wide blade in my mitre saw cuts slots that fit the steel perfectly. I bandsaw the tongue and groove edges off the boards. I then cut one or more slots lengthwise on the boards to accommodate the bottom of the cut piece.

A light tap with a small hammer secures the steel firmly in the slot. The pieces can be removed and replaced in the base easily if desired. The floor boards are already largely finished, and th edges can be sanded and finished if desired. I don't find that necessary for most of my stuff.

Great way of accomplishing a simple stand.
I would have never thought about that!
I have some of that cheap snap in floor from Home Depot left over that I would never use, but may if I needed display stands
If I did shows or sales, it would be an easy way to display them, even doubling or tripling up the cheap stuff
Yours looks to be "real deal" T&G oak flooring

Lot's of pallet wood is Oak. Make yourself a skid puller, pull the nails, plane it sand it and go...
A lot of the wood looks great.
