Mini BBQ Smoker
I've wanted to build a smoker for quite some time now, and I figured I would make one for my wife and I a few weeks ago. I can't take credit for the design. I saw a picture of one online that was an octagon, and I thought that it was a good idea, so I tried to make this one look like the one that I saw. It was a good project to get used to using the press brake. It was a lot more work than I had originally thought, but it sure pays off on the weekends when it's time to eat! I'm gonna venture out here and say that I'm probably one of the youngest guys on this forum. I joined 2 years ago when I was 22 and I'm now 24. I think some of you older guys need to make yourselves a smoker, it's a retired man's game! you sit back, and wait hours upon hours....but for some of the best food that you'll ever eat!

That's my plan! And the drain plug is so large pieces of meat that fall off can still be washed out of the bottom when I put the hose in it. The bottom gets filled with water before I start smoking to keep the meat moist and to help keep a steady temperature. The water also helps chunks of meat not to stick when they fall through the grateacourtjester wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 10:28 pm Just ring the dinner bell when it ready

You smarter than the average Bear
does the heat travel from the fire box across the bottom then enter the cook chamber to fold the smoke over the meat?

I really didn't come up with any of the concepts, just copied ideas that I saw on other smokers. Yeah, it's a reverse flow smoker, so the smoker travels out of the firebox, over the water, and through the opening at the end of the reverse flow pan, then it can travel evenly across the cooking surface and exit through the exhaust stackacourtjester wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 12:20 pm You smarter than the average Bear

That's sweet and I'd make one if I didn't already own 2 smokers and 2 grills.

24 years old....you have a great career ahead of you! Put away 15% of everything you earn selling this kind of stuff. You'll be on easy street in your 50's. It adds up quick. Fabulous work.

Thanks I appreciate it, and the tip! It sounds like you listen to Dave Ramsey as well:-) I try to listen to his radio show a few times a week. I just got my dad hooked on it too.

any drawing files you could share? Looking to build my own using the lonestargrillz design. Just have to figure out baffle design for their cross flow technology.

Nice job on the smoker!
What are you running for a press brake?
I am looking at lower cost options that are a step up from a press brake attachment for a shop press.
