Does anyone have table suggestions with the following:

Post by Metriccar » Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:59 pm

Looking into getting a new plasma table. Does anyone have suggestions for a table with the following:

Servo motors 1000 IPM traverse speed or so
Hardened steel rail bearings/guides
Water table
Software other than Mach. Possibly Command/Cut, Flashcut, or something else more tailored to plasma. With nesting software.
Automatic torch height control
Ohmic sensing preferred

metriccar, ohmic sensing and water don't play together well. The water also affects the cut quality. Check out ArcStar, they have an add at the top of the page. Except for the servo motors and water table they check your boxes. Go to their "Library" page and check out all the information they have. There is a lot of good information on table table design, motors, software etc. that can help you make an informed decision. adown

Like acourtjester said, I have both type sensors on my water table and have no trouble at all. The only thing I have found to be a problem with the ohmic is painted or heavily rusted metal. But then that's why you have both.

Ditto on ohmic and water table. Only issue is on the first reference if there is water on the sheet since there is no post flow. Only use touch switch on dirty metal.

Get the Design2cut demo from Westcott plasma. If you can find someone close to you with one of their tables that you can put hands on even better. If you were running Mach or considering Commandcnc you will be amazed with D2C, not even in the same league. I went from from Commandcnc to Design2cut and could have saved a lot of $ and aggravation if I just went with the D2C software from the start.

Should be able to. Your replacing the controller and all motors when you do it. The only adapter piece made was for the new torch mount with proximity sensors (The photo in my avatar shows it). I think the only other minor issue was getting the drive ratios correct as mine used belt reduction. Ryan at Westcott is who you want to talk to. I know a few have been done on Star-Lab tables, not sure about others.

I just have a 2" bung welded to the water pan in the corner, put a ball valve on it. Why do you ask?

Here's a photo of my drain for now. Not much to see. Star Lab welded a 2" fitting in a corner of the table, I put the ball valve on. Out of all the problems I had with Matt and Star Lab this is the one that told me I was screwed from day 1. The first time I went to fill the table it was leaking like a sieve. They couldn't even weld up a non pressurized fitting correctly.

I am in the process of building a low profile bladder tank out of 10 gauge that will straddle the 2 outside beams, I am welding 3 pieces of 4" square between them for the tank to sit on. I am doing it this way for 2 reasons. I don't like the blue plastic barrels, probably fine for the low pressure needed to raise and lower the table but I also did not want to lose my sheet steel storage under the table. I am also adding some type of circulation system probably on a timer. I will continue to use washing soda or Borax, safest I have found other then Green Cut. I am hoping the circulation pump will help keep the water from stagnating and the bladder will make cleaning easier.

I'd love to see your bladder/tank design. I'm moving facilities, and plan on going with a design to rest on the frame as well. The (4) blue barrels worked good, but were always a temporary measure.

The tank is 60"x34"x12". 5x10 table holds 93 gallons, tank will hold 105. I got some 10 gauge CR down in the valley. There is a huge steel supply down there that will give you cuts off a sheet and only charge the square foot price as long as you leave them at least 3 linear feet on the sheet. Pretty good deal since they were into 3 sheets.

Still working on my circulation system design. Will post pics when done.

We are selling our Westcott Plasma 5'x10' Pro Series Plasma Table and Ultra Cut Plasma System, we have requested a refund from Westcott Plasma with no success only broken promises.

This Unit will be Brand New and currently at Westcott Plasma in Apache Junction, Arizona.

It maybe available for pickup soon.

This machine was purchased last year, our major loss can save you lots of time and money, we have already waited 9 months and lost thousands of dollars waiting for the build, our business suffered losses after waiting past the 30 days of build time as promised. We had no choice but to purchase a different machine, purchasing this machine can save you the aggravation of demand letters, lawsuits, investigators and your local police departments time filing endless paperwork against Westcott Plasma.

We purchased this system April 16, 2018 and funding went thru to Westcott Plasma April 26, 2018, if it is done and you pay us 70,000.00, we will pay off our note and you can pick it up directly from them and save yourself lots of time and aggravation.

You can make payment arrangements thru Well Made Manufacturing 602-323-2655 for purchase.

70,000.00

Sorry to hear about your situation. Good luck

For me, it is a convenient way to raise and lower the water level.

That is a thing of beauty. But man does everything about that seem overly complex, therefore excessively expensive I'm sure. I would have some concerns about a cantilever gantry too. But high on the cool factor.

LoOk at jd2 mad series machines. I think you will be impressed.
They are professionally designed and manufactured not made in a garage.
They are very reasonably priced too.
Good luck on your search.
