Metal Art & Fab Shop Sign

Post by elmosfire »

Hey guys, so I'm kinda new here first time posting. just a little background on myself. we're (my dad and I) kinda new to all the cnc stuff we built a 5x10 plasma table about a year ago now and have been doing quite a bit of cutting since then. And i'm doing a lot of the computer side of things I did a lot of the programing of the machine and i'm also doing all of the cad drawing and setup prior to cutting. currently using draftsight as my cad program, and I also have inkscape.
So I created a logo for our business that I drew on draftsight (with some help from a business card holder file I found on here :D ). so what i'm trying to do is take my logo from DXF file format and convert it to either .AI or .ESP file format to be able to have the logo either screen printed or embroidered on a shirt.
So what I did was I tried to bring the DXF into inkscape but it didn't like that. so I went to draftsight and exported the file as a pdf then brought it into inscape and it came up in inkscape. so all I was trying to do was bucket fill it black so that all around the letters and the picture in the middle would be black and the inside of the letters (or cut outs) would be white so that could be whatever the shirt color was.
So my problem is when I do bucket fill it, it doesn't fill it in nicely around the lines there is white gaps all over the place. I just cant get it to look decent
Thanks a lot ahead of time, any help or tips is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, elmosfire

Here are several different file types that graphics folks might want. I removed the stenciling from the letters since it is not usually wanted or needed in graphic arts.

Here's the SVG file as a DXF file.
