Scraps, Handouts, Trinkets and Tchotchkes
Hey gang,
Wondering if anyone has any cute little giveaways they cut out of scrap material, or just fill in on sheets they are cutting other things out of?
I have people coming by all the time and I'd like to have some small things to cut out and give them as a fun little demo. But don't have any good ideas of things people might enjoy.
Thanks in advance!
John P.

Yeah, the only problem with bottle openers is if you're working with some thinner materials they might not be appropriate.
I was also kind of thinking about little designs that are just cute things people might put on a keychain, or leave laying around on their desk or something. Just not sure what. Maybe little animals or something?

Look for cell phone desktop holders. I have seen a couple that are easy to put together from scrap.

Ive been thru the trying to make the best out of scrap. The thing its when you cut all of this stuff it is time consuming and chews up your consumables. I have pails full of small stuff from as far as 5 years ago. Now I keep only scraps that I can burn stuff that is 12 x 12 or larger all of the small stuff goes out the door. its all about profit really not unless you enjoy working for free in that case you will be a busy guy. I estimate you need to make a buck per minute so if you make a small item to say sell for 5 bucks or so if you spent more than 5 minutes on it then your loosing money . Just sayin

I've been making small chili peppers and attaching pieces of magnet tape to them for refrigerator magnets, or you can make them into Christmas ornaments. Just about any small design could be made into a magnet.

Re: Scraps, Handouts, Trinkets and Tchotchkes
Here's a couple things I make sometimes with scrap. They're about 3" or so at their widest I think.
On the backside, I either hot glue a rare earth magnet on the back, or include a hook to hang them on pots or stuff.
Here's another thing I make from a 3" round disc of like 18 gauge steel I think. Of course these are alot more work since they need to be heated and forged, but I made a jig for my anvil to make it alot faster.
I think I'm the oldest 10 year old boy on the forum...

That hat looks interesting. I had an old blacksmithing uncle that made hundreds of them out of the old small steel barrel bungs that barrels used to have.
