Acme Rod for Leveling Feet?

Post by tylerd »

My table is not DIY, it is a star-lab 4x8. I thought I would get some better response here vs posting in the MFG specific forum. If this needs to be moved please do admins, I mean no offense that is for sure! My table is pre-drilled and tapped for 3/4-16 in all six of the foundation legs. I was wondering if anyone has tried using Acme Rod for leveling feet? Or any threaded carbon steel rod for that matter, here is a couple of links, what do you all think? I have searched the forums and have not found a lot of posts on the subject. If you have a suggestion or experience with a particular product please post it up.

Why do you want to change, just buy some 3/4" 16 thread bolts and use them. :)

My table came with bolts installed in each of these holes. They are exactly what I use for levelling. Bulltear/Starlab 6x12

If you want to do a bit more than just a bolt, you could do something like this.

THese area bit overkill as the thread is M30 (30mm) threaded rod. I just turned the ends down and plug welded from underneath. Yur 3/4 (19mm) would be fine!

Great Idea rodw, should I get hardened bolts, like M8 or better? Or would just regular carbon steel be good, what do you guys think?

Ordinary grade bolts or threaded rod would be fine, no need for high tensile ones. But just buy stuff that suits your existing threaded legs.

You might consider machine leveling pads from Mcmaster carr or Grainger

A band saw we purchased came with two 20 foot long roller tables for material to feed into and out of the band saw (it's a very large saw)
the roller tables were shipped with acme thread adjusters as the roller tables have 6 legs each, they work great to level out the tables to the saw.
