Beer logo conversion
I would love to keep the black and cut out all of the color, the honeycomb can go too. I am new to this and can't quite figure it out
Thanks

Re: Beer logo conversion
I have made some progress but still need to figure out vectoring. See attached, I want to cut a hexagonal pattern into a circle the with a slightly larger diameter as the inner circle and finish it with rust and clear coat. Then weld it behind the bee. I am slowly learning

Re: Beer logo conversion
Even though is not filled your lettering is going to have "fall out" problems. (like the centers of the O, A and P letters) Also the font is not one that will cut out well in plasma The really thin lines will just refuse to cut A shape cannot have an are two small to pass the kerf on each side of the cut. They way you have it everything in black will fall out, pluss the lettering The whole center will too if you leave the ring around it. Its not solid so it would have some tiny tabs holding it. The outer two rings will just all fall out Outside of that its perfect!

Will the cutter not just cut a single curf on the thin lines of the letters

Re: Beer logo conversion
Even if it does, if there is a white part surrounded by black it will just fall out. I looked at the original file, the best thing would be to manually trace it as the fabric texture causes lots of problems and is hard to get out without a LOT of manual work. Your trace is looking good, just need to switch over to vectors and add some stenciling to the letters and other parts that you don't want to fall out.Brewmaster wrote:Will the cutter not just cut a single curf on the thin lines of the letters

Revised
The color version will not get cut, it is only there to show the final product. See the attached file. Let me know if you see problems. Can I now convert to dxf import into sheet can and cut? Or do I need to use the extension gcodestools, prepare for plasma cutting?

Re: Beer logo conversion
Here is what I would do, I have broken the logo up in to parts. Cut the parts out and paint then as you like and then assemble them as a layered piece.
The internal parts of the bug will drop out, you may want to make a solid back plate of another color to set things out nicely.
When you load the file into SheetCam make the scale 1:1 or it will be to big.

Re: Beer logo conversion
Thanks. I wanted the stars and the wheat to drop out. I planned on rust finishing the honey comb and painting a solid plate to put behinds the bug and painting it green. The bug and the outer would be natural steel with clear coat.
Can y'all look at the font and the file and tell me if it looks like everything will cut. I stenciled the letters and I don't know if the machine will like it since it is my first attempt and creating a custom image

Re: Beer logo conversion
Here are some places that will cause a problem because of the small amount of metal left for support of the parts left hanging.
you may be able to reshape those areas to leave more metal to correct the problem. I reshaped the B some to show what I mean.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know. When I stenciled the letters I was flying by the seat of my pants. I will resale a bit. I did not know exactly how much metal I needed

Re: Beer logo conversion
This may not be exactly how you wanted to cut it but this dxf file is cut ready at 2ft diameter.

That looks so much better than what I can up with. What program did you use to do the conversion?

I wish I could afford that. For now I am going to have to get better at inkscape. Thanks for everyone's help. I am going to use the dxf from icmplasma85 and add a rusted honeycomb cut separately and welded behind it. This fourm is great.

Beautiful file, Jester.
To find your table's minimum spacing, Brewmaster, I suggest cutting this test file. It will tell you the smallest bridges you can use before burn through. There's a jpg guide in the download as well. https://www.robinhillmachine.com/custom-dxf/node-test/

Re: Beer logo conversion
Let me try again. Apparently the file was too big. I still need to fix the file with the old English font. Also I need to slow down the magaine during be the curves of the letters as some have a little curf blow thru.the picture looks like the wheat did not cut on the left. But it did. It's just a shadow
