Adobe Illustrator...Is It Good?
Anyone here use Adobe Illustrator for their raster conversions? We are currently awaiting our burn table and I am excited to start some design work to try when it gets here. I currently use Solidworks 2009 for our part design but obviously its not Font (or art) friendly. I see quite a few of the members are using Corel, but I have a friend who can give me Illustrator for free. Any thoughts?

Yeah as a wise man once said " the only thing that beats free.......is TWO for free" lol I will give it a shot for now, I am much more familiar with 3d modeling than 2d but shouldnt be to hard to grasp. Sure I will have questions for you guys though!

I use Illustrator C3 You will like the trace function. Also saves DXF formats. Top of the line software.
Re: Adobe Illustrator?
Coreldraw, Illustrator are both good programs. You can take a look in Inkscape to a 'free' alternative....

I use CS6 and love it, image trace works well and exports as dxf.

Is Adobe Illustrator a free program?
Re: Adobe Illustrator...Is It Good?
err, no, far from it.erik111 wrote:Is Adobe Illustrator a free program?
but that does not mean its not available if you know what i mean

I use CS6, very good, creating stuff for plasma is way below what it can do, but it does do it well.
I tried Inkscape and it did everything needed but i found it very unstable and kept bombing out at the worst times.

Illustrator is very powerful..its what I use. There is a learning curve but you will like it if you do artwork.
