Need Help

I am trying to get this into a dxf for my torchmate and can't figure out how to get it to cut correctly. I have a round piece of metal that is 24 by 24 to cut it out of. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are just looking for someone to convert if for you and give you a cut ready DXF, the forum rules for this section list several members that do paid conversions:

You are actually supposed to show what you have attempted, what is going wrong, etc. Your very first post and it sounds like you are just asking someone to do it for you.

Plus it's not readily traceable as is. I think it will take a little bit of work to create the cut file for this part.

Given the quality of the photo, this is the best I could come up (in a limited amount of time) with from a trace of the image. I'm pretty sure one of the "hired guns" could do much better. I guess you get what you pay for.

If the OP is willing to plunk down the 40 bucks for the LightBurn software, he could trace the image posted above and start cutting.

I've seen people that could cut one like adbuch posted with a hand torch. No sense wasting a CNC on that,, but if you want a clean and crisp part paying the few dollars that one of the guys/girls on here would charge and cut it with your CNC it would look GREAT!

I don't get on well with inkscape.... Seems to take ages.... Guess I'm just looking for a shortcut....

Hi Robert,
I used Design Edge to import/trace/edit the original photo posted by the OP. What I meant was that now that I have posted this clean image:

The OP could use LightBurn (or perhaps inkscape - which I have never used) to import and trace my posted image and then export it as a dxf file to achieve his desired end result.

Just spent a couple of hours drawing it up from scratch in Coreldraw.

Brought as a DXF into Sheetcam and a nice clean cut path file generated (attached photo).

If you are interested in the DXF, you can pay me $40 Australian via Paypal and it's yours. If not, no problem, I needed to refresh a little.

Or watch a few Youtube videos and use Inscape for free.....
Lots of stuff out there if someone wants to take a few evenings and just learn it..

Unfortunately, the original OP supplied image did not convert/trace using LightBurn to achieve a usable result. Original image on left, traced dxf on right.

I ended up importing into Design Edge with better results (after much experimenting). I still had to spend a bit of time editing. I'm no expert here, still learning.

This was my conversion with inkscape.
Not super clean but down and dirty and took maybe 5 minutes max to convert to DXF.
The OP's picture has a lot of extra nodes because of the grassy background
I would typically take this into DesignEdge as a DXF to clean up, which may take an hour or more depending on the level of neatness required
The sawblade would need redrawing. but in this case, I would consider deleting it and adding a clean one that I have on file.
Also, There is a nicer round barbed wire file that I had seen on this site. I'd offer the customer that one, which IMHO looks a lot better than the original one. Looks, too thick, kinda like a rope with barbs..just saying....

This was my basic conversion using Design Edge (before any editing). I think it looks about the same as yours. I don't know how to use Inkscape, so I am using what I have.
