be aware that the fumes will corrode metal surfaces, so keep it ventilated, preferably outdoors

Here it is 7 dollars for a gallon of 25% or about the cost of one American made flapper disc.

I just pour a little in a plastic tub about one inch and another inch of water. Using goggles, rubber gloves and apron.

45 minutes removes my mill scale, the dross takes much longer.

To stop the post acid rusting, I have a second tub with baking soda and water. I neutralize the acid, then wash with plenty of water.

Then I hit it with a flapper disc to remove that grey powder looking stuff. It will stay rust free for a couple weeks even here on the tropical island.

I also found that longer soaks make the corners rounded which is nice when doing lettering to give them more of a cast metal look.

Just a note, you should always add acid to water, never water to acid

There is no way that I could store this stuff outdoors. We live in -40C weather. Any suggestions for storing indoors?
Thanks in advance.

So I have about 4 gallons of this stuff that seems pretty used up, it no longer effects the metal, and if i put a little baking soda into it it doesn't foam. I would add more acid but my resivour is full. what can i do with this? can it just go down the drain? or in the driveway? or would I be causing a ecological disaster?

Does anyone have a part # or brand of Muriatic acid? All I'm finding is "safer" than Muriatic acid, and the usually translates into doesn't work as well. lol

Thanks.

Put a bottle of it in your freezer and find out? My guess is that it will as it is mostly water!!
I keep mine in the basement.
