Drum sander conveyor Grizzly G0449

Post by szextreme »

OK guys need some help here Specifically if you or know someone that has basically a "Timesaver" type machine. Found a smoking deal about 6months ago on a dual drum 37" wide Grizzly G0449 drum sander. Spent a day cleaning out all the sawdust and making sure was completely mechanically sound before trying to throw some metal art on it. That time came and went real fast as the Conveyor belt isnt exactly up to par with the heat transfer of the metal (Yes I know its for wood) Does anyone know of a company that would make high heat conveyor belts? If the real "timesaver" machines can do metal I need to know what the material for their belt is or a place that makes such belts. Unfortunately I think a new conveyor belt custom made is going to double what we have into the machine!

Set the metal art on a piece of plywood and run it through, adjust height accordingly.

Did try that, but one of two things happen...the piece sits on the drum and wood moves through or potential of airborn metal art due to not adhering to the wood. also tried sticky back sandpaper

Also the belt on the conveyor is a little bit dry rotted as you can pick off pieces of the belts nipples by hand

They made me a custom one for the dual drum sander you have. I sold it about a year ago.

Haven't had a chance to really look into a belt for the conveyor. Also the drums need to be adjusted ever so slightly.
