OK. Holidays are OVER and it time to get this oven finished.
I got the small door mounted into the large door. I'm pleased with the way this turned out.
The only thing that bothers me is the oven door weighs a ton!

I got the big wiring done and all SSR's are running good and cool and she gets
hot quick.
Elements On.jpg
Hope to get the big door on this week and the top fully insulated.
This thing is a BEAST!

I assume your timer is set to start when the oven reaches cure temps.
I like that idea acourtjester! I may incorporate that in the timer function.

Great Idea to install a standard oven door for viewing instead of having to build one from scratch.
I scrounged a oven door for the glass viewing post and was surprised the glass sheets were separate parts of the door and not an assembly. Whoops :o :( Now it will take an extra effort to add them to an oven when I build a bigger one.

I found a stainless steel door at our local appliance graveyard. It cleaned up nice but it is heavy.
I took it apart to just use the glass but by the time I built a frame I would not have gained anything.
The glass itself is very heavy.

Did you vent your oven anywhere?

I finally finished my oven too. Very similar design. 4' x 5' x 8'. Mine took 40 minutes to get to 400F, starting at 60F. I have the rack built. Started working on the sled for the rack today. Be glad to get to be able to actually use it. Maybe next week! Got any pics of your finished rack or rack sled?

Nice work mine is horizontal and not as big but the sled works fine rolls on small steel wheels

Jester, I'm very curious why, in this horizontal configuration, you would build it to have a rounded top?

Seems like a waste of available oven space and more difficult to build. Plus, you lose a good-sized surface to store crap when it's not in use :)

You are absolutely correct with your thinking, But when I built it this fit my needs. I was powder coating longer thing then tall and I can move it around with the handles and wheel attached and store it vertical and place things on the top end. :D
The last things I powder coated fit just fine (rail road cart parts)
