FROZEN PATINA - BLUE HALO

Post by steelfx »

Doing a freeze/thaw test for durability & shelf-life on my newest patina, I got an idea!

I froze about a pint of Blue Halo Patina in a qt. milk jug (clean).

Then I busted it up w/ a hammer, sliced the jug open & laid the frozen blue halo chunks & slush on the steel.
Let it melt & slide around for about 1 minute then slid the balance off to recover it. Neutralized with a quick
rinse of water & dried w/ compressed air.

(2nd Photo says 5 minutes, but it was more like 1-2 minutes, tops!

Bill

Have you done this with any of the other patinas or dyes?

I haven't yet, but I'm going to. Can't freeze the dyes, though..they'd have to be -150F or colder to freeze.
