Text in the border of a circle

Post by biggscoug »

Does anyone have a tutorial on how to add negative text inside the border of a circle?

Thanks.

Awesome. Thank you.

I can get the letters outside the circle on the top and bottom. Inside the border on the top and bottom has been baffling.

Path break apart is where it goes wrong for me. Once combined the words and the circle are not breaking. When I duplicate it dups the entire design, not just the circle.

here you go, now I had to use Inkscape 1.01 as the newer version would crash after about 3 steps in trying to show how to do it. :Sad

Let me take a look to see if I can be more specific as to what I did.

I used "Path, Combine" before I rotated. (If you don't do that, then there is nothing to break apart.) Then after rotating, "Path, Break Apart". After this, you could actually just move the circle up a bit to create the text in circle effect.

I can get the bottom words done. When I try to add or bring back the top text, I either cannot put the text on path OR the words will not show up on top of the circle to place where I want them.

Im finding an issue brining the top text back and having it fit. What fit on the top of the circle once moved inside … the bend of the text doesnt fit.

You may need to compress or expand it to get the correct shape to fit. Another trick would be to use 2 different size circles, as when it switches from outside to inside the text size changes slightly.

I like the idea of using the two different size circles, then you could "cut & paste" to get the text where you want it in the other circle.

It’s the way the words bow/bend against the circle. Making them bigger or smaller doesn’t fix the issue.

This is sorcery.

Show us your file so we can take a look. dxf or svg will be fine.

If you share the file you are working on, it may help others here trying to figure out the same thing.
Or at least some screen shots - so let's have a look.
Thanks,
David
