SVG Import with lots of line segements

Post by TBoneCattle »

I bought a file that came as an SVG and a DXF. I imported it into inkscape to edit it and it comes in as a bunch of segments instead of one solid shape. For example the outline should be a solid rectangle but its a bunch of segments instead of a solid piece all the way around. What am I doing wrong? How do I fix it?

You are not doing it wrong that were the way some people draw things or how some software do things. You can highlight the rectangle and go to Path drop down and scroll down to Simplify and click on that it should clean it up unless the segments are not joined.

Simplify didn't work, I did union and it put it all together but when I added my stuff to it and tried to do an exclusion it didn't work right. Thanks for your help, I feel like I am closer now.
