problems wit the big deer scene

I have been trying to get the big scene to load up on our burny10 torch and plasma table. It keeps rejecting for one reason or another. Layer properties don't match, DXF/DWG file error,so forth and so on. I think our plasma can only read one layer. I have tried purging,locking out layers ,exploding, freezing layers and turning them on and off but it still will not read the dxf. I'm using autocad2002 and am self taught on it so I may be doing something wrong. Any ideas how I could get this file to work short of having to go in and rewriting all the lines?
