File import problem

Post by oldironrep »

Why when I import a DXF from the sharing forum to Torchmate Cad/Cam V9 parts of the file are missing.

Not all programs are capable of reading all dxf's the same, it's a common problem. Best to find out what version of dxf your software is capable of and convert the dxf to that version. Is your Torchmate software capable of opening svg files? Svg files are more universal.

I use v7.1 and when this happens I select the whole drawing and click 'arrange', then 'connect path'. Many times this will get all the lines to appear but be aware a path has been made of the whole file so you'll need to break path to work with the individual aspects once more. My version of TM cad doesn't allow the import of .svg's however I can export them. When someone sends an .svg to me I pull it into Inkscape and 'save as' .eps which TM imports very well.
