torchmate not working

Ok so since our school got a torchmate 4x10 we have been having problem after problem... the torch doesn't want to contact the metal and fire, it just fires in the air, i have a video of it. i have adjusted all of the settings to what the book calls for. any ideas?

Torch height control setting? I'd call Torchmate.

Increase the torque setting on the AVHC height control. The slide assembly on the z axis is likely binding, when it does this it thinks it is sensing the plate, so it retracts to pierce height and fires the torch.

Ive increased it all the way to 28lbs, still does it

Checked the one amp fuse in the height controller? If it's blown, the torch will fire in air and not dive to sense material.

Just went threw this last week manually jog the torch all the way down to its limit, power off the hight controller, power back on. The controller lost its limits this resets them.
