Digital copies of my designs

Post by Moonlight31 »

Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if there was a way to get a proper copy of my designs in design edge to show or email my customers.
While in design edge, I can select my desired item> hit 'F6' so my item goes full screen, then hit 'Ctrl W' and it takes me to a black and white version of my image/item. To me, from there I should be able to save it as a JEPG or PDF etc. The only option I seem to get it to print it.
I would love to be able to easily save the image and forward it to a customer as a proof or save it for a catalog picture.
Any ideas out there?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Arlo,
Here is an example of how I do it.

Use "Ctrl W" to view print preview.
step 1.jpg
Print as pdf
step 2.jpg
View pdf (I use Firefox, but Adobe Reader works as well)
step 3.jpg
I use PDF995 to print to pdf format. This is a free download here.
http://www.pdf995.com/

My computer also offers the option to print to Microsoft pdf printer.
Microsoft Print to PDF.jpg
This one does a "closed path fill".
Microsoft Print to PDF image.jpg
My go-to method is usually to do a screen shot. Print Screen, past into Paint.net, crop if required and save as PFD.
Paint.net - step 1 - paste.jpg
Crop/resize
Paint.net - step 2 - crop and resize.jpg
Here is the pcm file I started with.

Here are the pdf files.
DesignEdge drawing.pdf
print to pdf microsoft.pdf

Impose your business logo over the proof so somebody don't run with your design and hard work..

Not a bad idea! And something I wouldn't have considered doing. I guess I am too trusting. But as we all (at least most of us) know, it is easy enough to edit out a business logo or watermark.

Here is an example.

Before editing

After editing using Paint.net by simply adjusting contrast and brightness
