Another Grate Idea for Pcam table

Post by gjlamp »

Hello,

New to the group. Joined this week. Have had PlasmaCam table for 3 years. Mostly used for artwork.

Although I have not had to replace the grates on my 4 x 4 PlasmaCam table I notice that what is deteriorating are the points in the areas where I do most of my cutting.
I don't know if this design was ever attempted. I don't see why it should not work. All that would need to be replaced would be the points as they wear.

Any comments would be appreciated.

George L

hey george welcome to the site, the only problem I see would be that they will get "welded" to the table just like the endstop tabs that come with the pcam table, If you have a way around that I sure would like to hear about it....
check out these links for some more great ideas for the plasmacam and samson tables......

Never had an end tab "weld" to the table. That's something I'll have to watch for.

How about maybe cutting multiple slots in the grate so that if you can't use one spot, just put your replacement point in another slot.

that might work if the slot doesn't fill up with dross

Wouldn't flux alleviate that? It might be just a symptom of the table aging, though it should still have plenty of life left in it. My advice is just use some flux on the points.

There is a grate tip file floating somewhere. I think it might be on PlasmaPig group. It's a small piece that has 2 tabs that you bend over the grate to secure it. Here's the link
