PlasmaCam Communication Problem.

Post by AnotherDano »

When I set up my PCam, I had a lot of communication errors. Tech support and I tried everything under the sun and they finally suggested a 'hail Mary' that worked. All I had to do was plug the computer and the controller into different outlets on different circuits. It's been running like a champ for over a year.

But recently, I cant get more than a few inches of cut without the communication error, or Severe Communication Error popping up. I re-initialize and everything is fine,,, for another few inches, sometimes a bit more.

Is it the phase of the moon or is my controller on it's way out?

Today, I'll be disconnecting and reconnecting all of the wires and cables, blowing the plugs & sockets out with clean, dry air. That's all I can think of, as nothing has changed in the setup since Tech. Support fixed the problem.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Does it make any difference if you run it with the torch turned off?

No, torch on or off; same thing.

It happens immediately after initialization now.

The new UPS w/filters didn't fix anything.

Loading the new 3.11 software to see if that will take care of things. Yeah, I know,,, shoulda done that a long time ago. But am wondering what has happened to make this an issue after running for a year with no problems.

I'll post results after the software upgrade.

The 3.11 software was loaded but the same problem was there. Wouldn't get through an initialize cycle.

Tech support suggested a new control cable. I installed one that didn't work on the last go-around and Bingo.

It's working fine now.

Has anyone found a good solution to the problem that AnotherDano is talking about? I'm having the same issue exempt that it's not as consistant. I can run for maybe a couple hundred inches and next time it won't even finish initializing. I sometimes get error messages with error codes also. 70, 66, 71, 67, 194, 195 I need to get this issue resolved cause it's depressing me in a hurry.

The solution for me was to move the plug to another socket that was on a different circuit.

Since then, I got a UPS and plugged both the control box and the computer into it.

No more problems - and look at the date of the last post.
