Jerky X axis

Post by Judd »

I notice that my X axis will stick and jerk when I try to plasma cut my art.
Is it the motor or the belt or what?

What type of machine do you have? How old is it?

I have a PlasmaCam DH2 and had a problem like that. Turned out it was a small piece of slag on one of the gears. Cleaned it off & everything was back to normal.

If I am looking at the correct picture it could be out of line by just a couple of teeth and cause that, I have had metal flakes/dust, follower bearings and the like cause that same problem. Realigning and cleaning everything up might fix it.
