45xp cut problem diagnosis help...

Post by DipSchitt »

trying to cut 10ga cold-rolled steel using hypertherm charts for fine cut slow speed, with the associated consumables on a Command CNC system (sheetcam doing the gcode). Some cuts are great, others after a decent pierce start to fail full penetration, leaving me with the below. Any ideas what's not going to plan? Suggestions on what to try next? I've got another sheet to cut today, but at nearly $200 per sheet I'm reluctant to keep making the same mess. Wonder if maybe this is related? viewtopic.php?f=60&t=19814

I have had that same problem and slowed things down a bit. On a side note my plasma lead used to run through a "cable chain" and when using standard consumables I would sometimes get torch stuck open . The cable chain was kinking my torch lead and not allowing enough air to get to the torch. Now my lead hangs from the ceiling with no problems from fine cut or standard.

I'm with Billy. Looks like your just a bit too quick assuming your cut height is correct.
