power max 380 torch

Post by Masons Forge »

I just bought an older 4x8 tracker table to rebuild and replace my 4x4 DIY table. It came with a PM380 that I was going to keep and just use it as a hand torch. I was cutting out a piece of 1\8" plate today and the torch started to smoke on the inside. I took it apart and saw where the wires attached to the back of the plunger was melting and the piece with two wires under it was coming apart due to time and use. Now the question.
Can I buy the parts to rebuild the inside of the torch or has anyone fitter a different more modern torch on a machine?
Thanks
Josh

I've owned a 380 in the past. Yes, parts may be purchased though depending on what is melted may be better to have serviced depending on your situation. Though by now you've most likely figured this out.
Due to "Neglectful" employees I had to make many repairs to wiring etc. in the handle so it's not overly complicated. Not sure about more modern replacements, would need to speak with Hypertherm or your welding equip. repair specialists.
