Machine torch on a Hypertherm powermax 600

Post by Brenham Iron Works »

Has anyone installed a machine torch to a hypertherm powermax 600. I bought the machine torch from hyperthem and is has an extra connection the I don't know where it goes. Can I splice these wires in somewhere?

I just responded to the PM....but you did not mention on the PM that you had a machine torch. Your Hypertherm Powermax600 manual will provide the details for connecting to the start signal in the Powermax600 power supply....the start wires are the same ones you would use for the start pendant. If you do not have the manual it can be downloaded from the www.hypertherm.com website. Click on the "document library" tab at the top of the page, then search for Powermax600 instruction manual, it will download as a .pdf file.

Thanks guys for all of your help. It seems to be working fine with the way that I spliced the wires together.

Jim, I also have a a powermax 600 on a Pcam table and using the hand torch. Is it worth switching to a machine torch? What inprovements do I get? I ment to ask you at the show but was distracted by your new laser.

Thanks

If you are currently using the Pac123 hand torch on your 600, and you switch to the RT60 machine torch:

- dramatically longer consumable life
- thicker piercing capability
- faster cut speeds
- The ability to square the torch to the plate easier

It is definitely worth the switch!
